It's not the tech that is scary. It's that companies will choose A.I before humans for doing work. So, much of the jobs will go away. Just look at the history of automation. Did companies choose humans over machines? No. Companies don't care, as long as the job gets DONE.
Now, look at what some of the A.I systems are doing today, and think what will be possible in a couple of years. If you are not afraid about that, then you have no idea how the monatary system works. Why do you vote, if you don't have a job and contribute anymore? What do you think the state thinks of you then?
Remember, the tech you see today…is just the beginning. Do you think we humans will stop progress in this field? People laughed at the first airplanes too you know. Look were we are today.

“AI is no different than human intelligence” is an obviously inaccurate assessment. AI has already passed the Turing test with its current hardware/software limitations. We’re still using Python to train most AI! It is only a matter of time until an average AI surpasses the intelligence an average human and the majority of humanity. Also keep in mind that AI has is being given unfettered access to the internet and it can process information on the internet far faster than any human is capable of.
By the way, facebooks’ llama 3.1 was trained on over 1.28 million gigabytes of vram. The human brain is said to be equivalent to 2.5 million gigabytes of ram in terms of memory size.

Well, not ALL software is bug-ridden. I mean, I could write a 2-line script and it would just work. But yeah, all complex software nowadays inevitably has bugs….and AI gets complex real fast
AI is not a Skynet problem, but it is a problem regardless. I get dozens of AI spam calls including calls using my relatives' voice. Every time I post to social media I get dozens of AI bot comments, half of the YT comments I see in popular channels are bot comments, fake job offer emails, fake artists posting AI generated slop and scamming people, AI generated child abuse material, the list goes on. If you ask a honest professional who works with AI, they'll tell you it sucks; If you ask a criminal, it's the best thing ever, they're the only ones greatly benefitting from it.

As the primeagen said, the tech job market is going to recover soon once LLMs write a ton of shitty code and more engineers are needed to fix that
